Maple Creek (fomerly Luther Community)

We have been in the process of repositioning our organization within the senior living market for several years. This effort involved building and remodeling our culture as well as our residences. Performance Edge has been quite instrumental in helping us during our transition. We believe that the key to success is to engage our employees in improving our performance at all levels. Performance Edge has provided development opportunities for over 30 managers tailored to our needs in the areas of Process Improvement, Effective Communication, Relationship Building, Managing Strategic Initiatives and more.

One of the best programs taught key managers how to effectively coach staff performance. Al helped us to understand the importance of building trust with staff, giving effective performance feedback, objectively evaluate performance and developing effective coaching plans to help staff succeed. The results have been great. Our key indicators of employee turnover, customer satisfaction and financial performance have all trended favorably over the past few years. We are on a roll!

Byrne Tool and Die

Byrne Tool and Die is always looking for a competitive edge in our market, something that will take us to the next level. After analysis it became clear our best opportunity was to engage our people in taking responsibility for the success of the organization. The problem was “how”, the solution, Performance Edge, LLC.

Al affirmed our position that to be competitive in the current environment we would need a relatively flat organization with high productivity. Our challenge would be to develop a culture of accountability and self directed work teams. We needed to “lean up” our organization by discarding the costly top down management approach of providing instructions and solving problems for staff. The coaching and development support that Al offered prepared us to engage staff in taking responsibility for the success of each project that came in the door. He helped us become aware of the way our behaviors were sometimes preventing staff from being accountable and letting them off the hook for performance that failed to achieve the goals.

With Al’s help, our culture is definitely taking on a high performance orientation. I am pleased to say that even in a difficult economic environment we have seen a 35% increase in sales, significant increases in profitability, improvements in quality and no turnover (we seem to have a performance edge LOL).
On a personal note, since working with Al at Performance Edge I have been asked to take on oversight of more areas of responsibility in the company and am enjoying my work more than ever.

Consolidated Electrical Contractors

In early 2005 after 10 years as the President of Consolidated Electrical Contractors (CEC) I felt like I was in a trap.

As an accountant I was frustrated that sales were growing at a rapid pace but profitability was not. In June of 2005 Alan joined our team as an external coach. He helped us to move forward with a restructuring of our organization to make us more effective (not a downsizing). With his facilitation and support we were able to begin to leverage our individual talents. We transitioned from an operating model that was a mile wide and an inch deep to an inch wide and a mile deep.
In the process we discovered that organizational structure wasn’t our only problem. Our management team was as a group of highly paid doers and supervisors. Al helped us to learn to become effective managers and leaders. There were many stages to the process and it took over 12 months to transform our company.

Al was an invaluable asset to us throughout this transformation. He worked with us as individuals and as a team. After two years of difficult economic times many contractors have been force out of business. CEC is still standing. I am certain that without the changes we made and Al’s support we would not be here today. We consider Al a valued partner.

Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan

The Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan was very pleased with training on “Improving Work Performances through Coaching” provided by Performance Edge. The session was very well received by our provider network with over 50 people attending. Many of them have contacted Performance Edge for follow up coaching support at their offices. Al Adyniec delivered an engaging presentation to our audience and demonstrated a high level of professionalism. It was a pleasure to work with Al as he was well prepared and provided useful information and materials to our providers that will help them in their employee supervision role.
